WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Missouri's House delegation split 5-4 in support of a $700 billion emergency rescue plan for the nation's financial system. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Kansas City, was the only lawmaker from the state to change his vote after the House narrowly rejected an earlier version of the bill on Monday.
Cleaver and other vote-switchers helped the measure pass on its second try in the House by a 263-171 vote. The Senate passed the same bill on Wednesday.
Other Missouri lawmakers favoring the revised bill are Republicans Roy Blunt and Jo Ann Emerson and Democrats Russ Carnahan and Ike Skelton. Those opposing it are Republicans Kenny Hulshof, Sam Graves and Todd Akin. Democratic Rep. Williams Lacy Clay also voted no.
All four members of Arkansas' congressional delegation voted in favor of the package on Friday. Republican John Boozman joined Arkansas' three Democrats in voting for the bill.
