LAQUEY, Mo. – A state fire marshal’s investigator is trying to find the cause of a fire that killed a man early Sunday morning in Pulaski County. Law officers haven’t released the victim's identity.

A neighbor spotted the flames, and firefighters say flames quickly spread through the house. The chief of the Waynesville Rural Fire Department says there are signs the victim tried to get out.

Thank you Stevie for your prayers. I do not believe I could have gone this far in the week without them. I am also just finding out about his escape attempt. We were hoping for something more peaceful; if that is even possible during a fire.

This why it is so important that we have smoke detectors in are homes and to make sure that they work by checking them every month and changing the batteries out twice a year.

It breaks my heart to read that there were signs of him trying to get out. It only makes you begin to realize what this man went through. I'll be praying for his friends and family.
