FAA says faulty landing gear caused plane crash

MOUNT VERNON, Mo. -- Investigators with the Federal Aviation Administration found the cause of a plane crash near Mount Vernon on Wednesday night. They say the pilot says the landing gear collapsed as the plane landed on Wednesday night.

The single-engine Cessna Skylane was destroyed. The pilot was able to walk away from the wreckage.
