JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - A state judge rejected a lawsuit seeking to knock a casino initiative off the ballot on Nov. 4. The initiative would repeal Missouri's unique $500-per visit-per person gambling loss limit, allow no licenses for new casinos and raise casino taxes to increase funding for education.

Critics contend the measure, labeled Proposition A on the ballot, illegally includes multiple subjects and has an unclear title. An attorney representing them argued on Friday that the measure is an attempt to "log roll" voters by getting them to approve the measure because they support part of its various elements, though it's likely they oppose others.

Cole County Judge Richard Callahan said Monday that the casino measure does use “log rolling” but he sided with backers of the measure anyway, saying the various elements involve the same subject.
