Martin gets first head coaching win as MSU beats Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Spencer Laurie had 15 points on Monday night to lead Missouri State past Central Michigan 60-57. It was Coach Cuonzo Martin's first win as a head coach.

Laurie hit a 3-pointer as time expired in the first half to give the Bears (1-1) a 34-24 lead at the break.

Missouri State led 47-32 with 9:10 left in the game, but the Chippewas (1-1) moved to within 58-57 on a 3-pointer by Jeremy Allen with 21 seconds to play. Allen and Jacolby Hardiman each had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds but missed 3-point opportunities.

Chris Cooks and McFarland each finished with 14 points for the Bears while Kyle Weems had 10 points.

Allen led Central Michigan with 20 points while Robbie Harman had 18 points.
