NEOSHO, Mo. -- A former leader of the Village of Collins faces up to a four-year prison sentence after pleading guilty for sexual misconduct with a child. A detective caught Allen Kauffman in an Internet sting last January.

Kauffman tried to arrange sex with the detective, who was posing as an underage girl. Newton County prosecutors dropped several other charges in exchange for the guilty plea.

After he was charged, Kauffman resigned as chairman of the village's Board of Trustees, a position equivalent to a mayor. Collins is on Missouri 13, about 60 miles north of Springfield, in St. Clair County.
