Couple is in custody on porn-with-minor-son charges

MARSHFIELD, Mo. -- A couple who were wanted on charges watching child pornography with their teenaged son are now in custody. Officers arrested Catherine Carson late Wednesday afternoon at her job in Springfield. Law officers arrested her husband, over-the-road truck driver Lee Murdock, in Pennsylvania on Thursday,

Detectives believe the parents encouraged their teenager to watch adult and child pornography with them, and also smoke marijuana. Detectives interviewed the parents several weeks ago and say they admitted what they did. It took awhile to complete the investigation and for the prosecuting attorney to file charges.

Carson and Murdock, who used to live in Rogersville but now live in Springfield, face misdemeanor and felony charges of endangering the welfare of a child, possession of child pornography, and furnishing pornography to a child. A judge set their bonds at $50,000 each on the felony charges. Carson appeared in court on Thursday and has another court hearing scheduled for next week.

The investigation of the parents started last April after detectives started investigating reports that the teen molested at least three younger children. Because he's a juvenile, it's not known whether he will be charged.
