SPRINGFIELD -- This was one of a couple of dozen cities on Friday where people took part in the Nationwide Chicago Tea Party. The purpose was to let citizens express their opposition to federal government bailouts. About 200 people attended one here at the Boat House next to Lake Springfield.

Borrowing an idea from the Boston Tea Party of America's colonial days, people took tea to the rally to send a message to lawmakers.

The idea of the tea party came from CNBC analyst Rick Santelli. He made an impassioned speech on the air from the floor of the Chicago Board of trade last week, claiming President Obama's stimulus package promotes bad behavior.
