OSAGE BEACH, Mo. -- Last month, a Foristell police officer stopped a speeding vehicle. Two men and two women from the St. Louis area were in the car, along with $3,324 worth of stolen clothing.
Much of the clothing was still on hangers and the people in the vehicle had conflicting stories about how they got the merchandise. They had no receipts.
After many phone calls, the Foristell officer learned the clothing came from the Osage Beach Premium Outlet Mall. The officer contacted the Osage Beach Police Department and confirmed the thefts.
The stolen merchandise came from 10 stores. A representative from one of those stores had noticed several empty hangers the day of the theft. The thieves damaged much of the stolen merchandise.
Detectives think the four people probably steal for a living. Osage Beach police say, because shoplifting affects all of us, it is important that suspicious activity be reported immediately.
