FAIR GROVE, Mo. -- An accident killed a worker for a construction company about 4:20 p.m. Wednesday next to U.S. 65 just south of Highway AA north of Fair Grove. The accident happened while workers were dismantling and loading a crane onto a flatbed truck. Somehow, Lance Trager, 53, of Columbia fell under the wheels of the flatbed truck and was run over.
Emery Sapp and Sons, based in Columbia, is the contractor for the ongoing project to widen U.S. 65 from two lanes to four lanes between Fair Grove and Buffalo. Crews have just finished building a bridge over the Pomme de Terre River on the Greene-Dallas county line.
