GALENA, Mo. -- Three people are charged for an attack on a man who was injured in McCord Bend on Wednesday. The victim, covered in blood from a puncture wound to his eye, drove himself to the Stone County Sheriff’s Department late that afternoon. Officers called an ambulance and the sheriff says he is now in a hospital in Springfield in stable condition.

The three people charged with assaulting the 31-year-old man are Walter Baker, 21, of Ozark; Teresa Bunnell, 38, of Ozark; and Walker Erwin, 24, of Ponce DeLeon. They’re each charged for first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

Deputies are looking for Erwin but the other two were in the Stone County jail on Friday morning.

Deputies say the victim first told them he’d been shot in the face. Their investigation determined it was a puncture wound instead.

McCord Bend is a village on the James River about three miles west of Galena.
