The milking machines are all covered up with tarps, as store owners try to keep it from rusting. Vickie Kensinger says she just can't get used to the new skylights a tornado left in her roof.

"He said, 'I don't want to alarm you but there's some people come by up here, some truck drivers, and said there's some trucks down there in the holler,' and they didn't know what all had taken place up at the plant," said Kensinger.

Kensinger couldn't prepare for what she was about to see on May 8. The damage was too severe for production to continue. The whole building was shaken off its foundation, shaking this family's livelihood to its core.

"I guess we just want to ask for patience from our customers until we do get back to going, because we need them, we really need them!"

And, evidently, customers need Kensinger, too.

"He (a caller) was asking my husband if we were still producing milk, and he said, 'Well, I just want to tell you I haven't had milk like that since I was 6 years old and I will be suffering right along with you,'"

The 35 area grocery stores that sell the milk, and countless customers, will only find empty shelves and signs telling them it could be a month before the business is back up and running.

"It's an uneasy, uncertain feeling but you just have to take it step by step by step and know whatever the good Lord has in store for you, you're going to be able to make it... That's just the way it is," said Kensinger.
