SPRINGFIELD -- Former Missouri governor Matt Blunt received a ticket for failure to yield from city police after a crash between his vehicle and a man on a scooter.

According to police, Blunt was driving a Ford Explorer south on Kickapoo Avenue in central Springfield when he came to the intersection of Cherry Street. After stopping at the stop sign, Blunt continued driving on Kickapoo through the intersection. He apparently didn't see the oncoming scooter on Cherry, which didn't have a stop sign, and pulled out in front of it.

That's when the man driving the scooter ran into the rear passenger door of Blunt's SUV. The driver of the scooter suffered scrapes to his head and arms and was taken to a hospital emergency room.

The ticket does include an appearance in court for Blunt.

Just last month, Rep. Roy Blunt (Matt's father) was involved in an accident in Washington. The congressman accidentally backed his SUV into a Senate Democratic staffer's car.

Matt Blunt left office in January and lives in Springfield, although he works for companies in other parts of the country, including a prominent lobbying firm in Washington, D.C. He and his wife, Melanie, said last week that they are expecting a second child.
