COLE CAMP, Mo-- A funeral service is planned for 6 Sunday night at the home church of the Luetjen family. Donnie and Sharon Luetjen and their 15-year-old granddaughter, Taron, were found shot-to-death in their home in Cole Camp on Tuesday.
A short time ago, the most traffic you'd find in Cole Camp was at the four way stop in town. With the news of three murders came a change, one to which this community has had to adjust quickly.
When Kevin Kyle and Chris Kappelman went about opening 4Ks, they picked Cole Camp for a reason.
"We tease about it being Mayberry, but it's pretty close to that, said Kappelman.
Cole Camp's identity as a town known for its German food and an annual fair changed overnight.
"It's been a nightmare around here," said Kyle. "Taron, the daughter, was in my and my wife's Sunday school class."
Not only are they coping with the emotions but also with the people. The population of 1,000 has ballooned over the last several days with officers all over town. They're adjusting to the multitude of new patrols -- all part of a new reality, one that centers on mourning the loss of three neighbors.
While the general consensus is that most people aren't worried about a murderer running around, some people are exploring the purchase of home security systems.
