Early morning storm floods roads and knocks down trees

By Gene Hartley

We've received dozens of reports of damage from the severe weather overnight and early Tuesday morning. Rain flooded some streets in parts of downtown Springfield.

Photojournalist Nathan Shain shot video of the scene at Glenstone Avenue at Commercial Street, where the water was six inches deep at some spots. One driver got stuck trying to drive through the flooded streets; others were able to drive through it.

In St. Clair County, deputies say there are scattered outages and limbs down in the Osceola and Appleton city areas, including at the H. Roe Bartle Boy Scout Reservation near Iconimum in eastern St. Clair County.

In Benton County, wind damaged several houses in Lincoln, north of Warsaw.

Morgan County has trees down in Stover and Versailles, with minor flooding near the lake area.

In Cedar County, there were a cluster of power outages near Masters, and tree damage north of Stockton.
