SALESVILLE, Ark. -- A 79-year-old man from Baxter County drowned in the North Fork River over the noon hour on Wednesday. Eugene Perry, who lived in the Tracy Ferry area near Mountain Home, was standing in the water and fishing just below Norfork Dam by himself when he was swept downstream.

Two fishermen pulled Perry's body from the river about a mile below the dam near Salesville. They tried to revive him with CPR. An ambulance took Perry to the hospital in Mountain Home but doctors were not able to save him.
