High humidity will produce heat index values of 100 or greater over much of the region this afternoon. That's prompted a Heat Advisory for many counties in the KY3 viewing area.
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible.
Drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned
room...stay out of the sun...and check up on relatives and
neighbors.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued
a heat advisory for eastern and west-central Arkansas.
The weather service says high temperatures Monday will reach the
90s statewide under sunny skies followed by overnight lows in the
low to mid 70s.
Skies are to remain clear through the remainder of the week with
highs expected in the 90s through Friday.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Health and Senior Services Director
Margaret Donnelly is warning Missourians to take precautions for
the heat.
Donnelly says hot, humid weather can cause illness and death
with little warning, particularly among senior citizens and young
children. Between 2000 and 2008, 203 people died in Missouri from
heat-related causes.
Medications such as antihistamines, sleeping pills and
antidepressants impair the body's natural response to high
temperatures.
In St. Louis, a forecast for excessive heat expected through
Friday has prompted officials to issue a heat advisory. The city
health department says citizens should avoid prolonged work in the
sun or in poorly ventilated areas.
The department also urges people to drink plenty of fluids and
try to stay in an air-conditioned building.
