Springfield man convicted of statutory rape avoids prison

By Paula Dowler

SPRINGFIELD -- A man convicted of having sex with a 16-year-old girl will not spend time in the slammer. A jury convicted Kevin Humphrey, 26, in March for two counts of second-degree statutory rape and one count of statutory sodomy.

Greene County Circuit Judge Michael Cordonnier suspended Humphrey's prison sentence in favor of five years probation. He is required to register as a sex offender.
