Fire burns down home east of Springfield

By Gene Hartley

SPRINGFIELD -- Several fire departments fought a house fire in the 6300 block of East Skyline Drive early Monday. The Logan-Rogersville Fire department says the family was in the process of moving out of the house.

The fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. The house was already engulfed in flames when crews got to the scene. Power lines were sparking in the back and the roof was in flames.

Firefighters from four departments shuttled water from the Springfield Fire Department station on Blackman Road.

Fire officials couldn't say if it was started accidentally. They were waiting for an investigator for the state fire marshal's office.

Greene County's online records show the split-level masonry and frame home was built in 1963. It had six bedrooms and four bathrooms.
