AVA, Mo. -- Two people from Ava are in custody after a methamphetamine lab bust in Douglas County. Sheriff's deputies who arrived at their home this week to check on a child's well-being say they smelled meth inside the house.

The smell led the deputies to meth-making materials, including chemicals in the cooking process. Diana Barnes and Lyndon Ludwig are in the county jail in lieu of $45,000 bonds.
