SPRINGFIELD -- The cost of the "I Love America" celebration is part of James River Assembly of God's marketing budget and staff say they could easily see 120,000 people in attendance on Friday.
Plenty of fun things are available to keep busy. Kids' games start at noon, then the air show runs from 2 to 5 and Christian rock bands take the stage at 6. The fireworks display starts just after 9.
Staff hope for a big crowd and say the field can fit 140,000 people.
"We could get close to it. We've talked to law enforcement and we're counting people as they come in so, if it starts to get full, we will, if we have to, turn people away at the roadways. We don't believe we'll have to do that though. We believe we'll be able to fit everyone in who wants to come," said Kert Parsley, chief operating officer of James River Assembly.
The event is free. Gates open at 11 and close at midnight.
