SPRINGFIELD -- A crash just west of the city left some 500 customers of City Utilities of Springfield without power for a couple of hours early Sunday. Police say a driver smashed his vehicle into a power pole near the intersection of Grand Street (Farm Road 140) at Orchard Crest Avenue about 1 a.m.
An ambulance took the driver to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say the driver might have been intoxicated.
