Khalil Greene, making his first start for the Springfield Cardinals as part of a rehab assignment, went 0 for 4 against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. Playing third base, the St. Louis Cardinal infielder is trying to get back to the majors after being placed on the disabled list twice because of social anxiety disorder, a condition in which a person may experience panic attacks and despression because of a persistant fear of being judged by others or embarrassing or humiliating themselves.

After a strong start to the season, Greene saw his average dip to .200 with St. Louis and went on the disabled list for the first time by rehabbing in Memphis in mid-June. But after rejoining the major league team, Greene was placed on the disabled list for a second time and said he was still dealing with the problem. You can view the accompanying video to see his comments before his first game in Springfield on Friday night.

As for the rest of the Friday night game, Lance Lynn fired seven scoreless innings as the Springfield Cardinals downed the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 4-2 at Hammons Field.

Lynn (9-2) matched a season-high with seven strikeouts, allowing just three hits over seven scoreless innings, in becoming just the second nine-game winner in the Texas League.

The Naturals threatened to spoil Lynn's victory, as David Lough took Marco Gonzalez deep for a two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning, making it 4-2. Francisco Samuel came out of the bullpen though, and after walking Ed Lucas, struck out Vance Wilson for his 22nd save of the year, securing the win.

Tony Cruz put the Cards on the board in the second inning, as his RBI groundout made it 1-0 against Naturals' starter Anthony Lerew (4-5).

It remained 1-0 until the seventh, when Lerew walked Andrew Brown to open the inning. Jim Rapoport delivered a two-out run-scoring hit off of Ben Swaggerty, as the Cards took a 2-0 lead.

Springfield added two more runs in the eighth, as Shane Peterson scored on a throwing error by Josh Johnson, making it 3-0. With the bases loaded, Aaron Hartsock entered the game and immediately fired a wild pitch, scoring Steven Hill to make it a 4-0 game.

The Cards (12-8, 50-40) look for their fourth straight win on Saturday in a game you can see on the Ozarks C-W starting at 6 p.m.
