Some Branson residents are concerned about their health after a construction company began burning trees to clear nearby land.
Using a rag to help her breathe, LeAnn Meketansky explains what she and her neighbors have been dealing with over the past couple weeks.
"My throat hurts, my eyes are irritated and I'm coughing because of this," said Meketansky.
Like many of the senior citizens at this complex Meketansky has respiratory problems, made worse by crews burning trees to clear this sprawling stretch of land.
"Well the lady next door is on oxygen and it's taking much more oxygen for her to live and then paul up this way he has very serious problems, i'm wheezing," said resident, Carrol Barker.
"It's lasting too long. It's unattended, it's compromising the health of our residents. We were not given any notice that this was going to take place," said Meketansky.
No warning and no place for them to go. The condition of their cars adding to their frustration.
"I washed these cars Sunday morning and look at them now all full of white ash again, it's pathetic," said Mekatansky.
The construction company Haren Laughlin refused to go on camera but said they did everything right, obtained permits to clear the land and it is a controlled burn. Just yesterday they came to an agreement with residents. The cost of cleaning these cars will be on the construction company after two more days of burning.
"They're going to try to move the fires back further. Whether that's going to make any difference I don't know," said Barker.
