CARTHAGE, Mo. -- People around Carthage say visitors are coming earlier and earlier each year for Marian Days. Although the festival doesn't start until Thursday, many people arrived last Friday to avoid the rush.

In its 32nd year, Marian Days is off to another great start despite a depressed economy. Every hotel within 50 miles of Carthage is completely booked.

The event draws roughly 60,000 to 80,000 people to the area. It's four days of prayer, reflection and catching up with loved ones.

"Besides that people have been using this thing as a gathering -- a reunion for the family from all across the country where they have relatives. It's hard for them to gather everybody so they use this and it's exciting for them," said Father John Toan Tran of Congregation of the Mother Co-Redemtrix.

Marian days officially kicks off Thursday night and lasts through Sunday morning.
