HARRISON, Ark. -- A woman who says she's on a mission from God wants to shake up Harrison. Sister Alice Sanders, an African-American, is fearless, funny, and fighting to change things through faith.

"When you really embrace Christ, you don't worry about the foes, you don't worry about the danger, because your life is in His hands,” said Sanders.

She came from Mississippi to her new home in Harrison.

"There's a history, there's a history,” said Dewey McGarrah, pastor of Believer’s Fellowship on Main Street in downtown Harrison, where Sanders is conducting revivals this week.

“In the past, Harrison has been known for not embracing people like Sister Alice, but they have embraced Sister Alice and we're excited to be changing history!"

McGarrah recalls a past that, for some, left a black eye on his area. Not far from Harrison, near Zinc, is the home of the leader of the Ku Klux Klan, the most well-known white supremacy group in the world.

McGarrah says he was led to invite Sanders here.

"The barriers, if there are any there, will be gone,” he said.

“I found myself there with nothing but whites,” said Sanders.

Sanders says twice, with divine help, she helped erase racial barriers in two other communities, both similar to Harrison.

"When news got around about the revival and what God was doing and this, quote, 'black woman' that had come into the city, the blacks started coming, so it actually opened up sharing, and blacks and whites coming together in worship,” she said.

She says soon, the news will be, “mission accomplished.”

"We are changing the story of Harrison, Arkansas,” she said.

Sister Sanders is holding a revival at Believer's Fellowship church from Wednesday through Saturday, starting at 7 p.m. She says there’s no confirmation yet on her exact work, or how long she will stay in Harrison to preach the Gospel.
