The pro golfers at the Price Cutter Charity Championship all want the same thing-to make it to the "Big Show", the P-G-A Tour.

And that pressure to succeed combined with the constant travel can take its toll. But there is an oasis in the desert at every Nationwide tour stop that can help them cope, and it weighs 58-thousand-pounds.

At every tour stop including Springfield, you'll notice a dark blue semi tractor-trailer rig. It's something the average fan wouldn't think twice about, but to the golfers on the Nationwide Tour, it is the one piece of stability and charm in a world full of uncertainty and pressure.

Known as simply, "The Truck", it travels 35,000 miles to 25 cities carrying all the equipment needed to put on the tournament right down to the tees. But over the years the truck has become everything from a watering hole to a psychiatrist couch as golfers started to congregate there.

"It's our refuge," said 1993 Price Cutter champion Tommy Tolles. "If you ever need something, it's probably on that truck."

Need a favor or information of any kind like a map to the next tour stop? The truck has it. Need to check out the latest score from your favorite team? The truck has TV's donated by past winners.

Need a cool beverage on a hot day? There's a giant cooler signed by every tournament winner known as "Great White" and a smaller cooler named "nemo".

But most importantly, the truck has become a home-away-from-home. It's staff is like family to the golfers.

"They've all got ears the size of watermelons," explains Tolles. "And they're here to listen. They're a shoulder to cry on it's where 99% of the guys go to vent."

It's hard to believe that an 18-wheeler has become so sentimental, but all you have to do is check out the walls to notice all the current PGA players like Boo Weekly who have written thank you notes on flags from the tournaments they've won.

Former Nationwide Tour player Zack Johnson sent the truck a note after winning the 2007 Masters, and you'll notice that every dedication is addressed not to a person, but to "The Truck".

"It's all about the truck," said operations manager Tommie Sheridan. "It's fun to see them doing well and that we saw them here at the truck through the good times and bad."

The truck is so popular, it even has its own golf tournament with its own version of the Masters green jackets. And while the PGA Tour has the Nationwide Tour beat in terms of big money and prestige, there's one thing the PGA doesn't have.

"They do have trucks, but they have nothing like 'The Truck'," said Sheridan.
