WARSAW, Mo. -- A teacher in the Warsaw School District is on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into what the district calls staff misconduct. The Benton County Sheriff's Department is also investigating the female teacher for possible criminal charges. The sheriff says his office was called to the school on August 25 for an inappropriate student/teacher relationship.

Here's a written statement from Superintendent Dr. James Haley:

"(The teacher) is currently on paid administrative leave from her teaching position with the District. The Board of Education and Administration take every allegation of staff misconduct seriously, and will investigate any allegation thoroughly.

"While we want to be open and communicate with all parties, it is not possible to discuss personnel matters in public. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

"Any further questions, contact school attorney, Duane Martin, at (816) 333-1700."

KY3 is not releasing the teacher's name, pending possible charges.
