Sixth Republican plans southwest Missouri congressional bidby The Associated Press
SPRINGFIELD -- An employee of a fitness center says he plans to join the Republican race to succeed U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt. Mike Moon told the Springfield News-Leader that he's running because he's fed up with the growth of the federal government.
Moon, 50, is a membership coordinator for St. John's Hospital's fitness centers. He lives in Lawrence County near Ash Grove. Already in the Republican race are auctioneer Billy Long of Springfield, Ozark Technical Community College instructor Jeff Wisdom of Springfield, Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Darrell Moore of Springfield, state Sen. Gary Nodler of Joplin, and Sen. Jack Goodman of Mount Vernon. No Democrat has officially launched a campaign for the seat. Blunt is not seeking re-election in 2010 because he is running for U.S. Senate to try to replace Sen. Kit Bond. Most PopularMore Good Stuff |
