FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. -- A parachuting pooch was part of a big week at Fort Leonard Wood. First Sgt. Christopher LaLonde and his partner, Fosco, made a successful touchdown on Friday.

Fosco is a mine detection dog. It was his second jump. Lalonde was making his 60th. LaLonde and Fosco are stationed at Lackland AFB, Texas.

The jump was the culmination of the week-long Military Police Warrior challenge, which featured three-soldier MP teams from around the world going head to head in several competitions. The competition also involved tower climbing, target shooting, and written tests. It ended with a 15-mile march while the MPs carried 60-pound rucksacks.

Fort Leonard Wood's 92nd Military Police Battalion finished second to the 759th MP Battalion from Fort Carson, Colo. The 289th MP Company from Fort Myer, Va., finished third.
