Cold medicine buys lead to meth arrest in Branson Westby KY3 News
Stone County deputies say a meth lab was inside Wesley Parton's home.
GALENA, Mo. -- A man from Stone County faces drug charges after investigators say they tracked his purchases of pseudoephedrine, a major component in methamphetamine. Deputies say they found a meth lab while searching the home of Wesley Parton on Wednesday. They say they also discovered marijuana.
Parton is being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond. If he's convicted of the charges against him, he could receive a prison sentence up to 34 years if the sentences were ordered to run consecutively.
Edited news release from Stone County Sheriff Richard Hill: On Wednesday, Sept. 23, members of the COMET task force went to the home of Wesley Parton at 242 Jones Trading Post to interview him about an excess purchase of pseudoephedrine, which is a major component in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. This interview was a result of a report from Branson West Police Det. Christen Sledden. During the interview, enough information was obtained to apply for and obtain a search warrant for the home and vehicles on the property. During the search, numerous items were located that are used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. They include Epson salt, iodine; drain cleaner boric acid, Red Devil lye, lithium batteries, and coffee filters. Samples of clear liquid were taken to be sent to the state lab for testing. Also found in the home were three small bags that contained suspected marijuana and several marijuana smoking pipes. Parton, 30, of 242 Jones Trading Post Road was arrested and booked into the Stone County Jail. On Friday, he was charged:
