SPRINGFIELD -- Authorities are looking for the person who started a fire at an apartment complex. The arson happened at the Scotsdale Apartments, 1013 E. Battlefield Road, late Saturday night.

Firefighters said someone poured flammable liquid on the third floor's hallway carpet and then set it ablaze. People living on the lower levels were evacuated on foot and those on the third floor had to be rescued by firefighters with ladders. Authorities said one woman climbed down to the second level balcony then jumped to the ground; she injured her foot.

Residents returned to their rooms once the fire was put out. Officers said they have no motive or suspects in the case.
