SPRINGFIELD -- A girl who was hit by a car on the way to school is improving. Kimberley Armstrong is a junior at Hillcrest High School.

She's been in critical condition at a hospital after being hit by a car this past Tuesday. Doctors have placed a shunt inside of Kimberly's skull to relieve pressure on her brain and her family says Kimberly is now able to squeeze her mother's hand.

It's still touch-and-go for the 15-year-old girl but doctors say she is getting better.
