Watch for closed roads in Greene County this morning

Numerous Greene County roadways are closed this morning due to water over the road. The Greene County Highway Department has been setting up barricades since Thursday evening on roads covered in water. Highway Department Administrator Dan Smith said list of locations will not be available until later this morning, but motorists familiar with areas prone to flooding should expect high water there this morning.

“It’s all the usual spots,” said Smith.

Motorists are advised to use extreme caution while driving this morning, and remember to “Turn around, don’t drown.” Do not drive into flooded roadways. Road beds may be washed out below the water’s surface, and even a few inches of rushing water may carry a vehicle off the road.

Additional information will be release when it is available.

To report a flooded roadway in unincorporated Greene County, call the Greene County Highway Department at 417-831-3591.
