WAYNESVILLE, Mo. -- Pulaski County sheriff's deputies are trying to figure out who shot a man at his home near Waynesville on Tuesday afternoon. Sheriff J.B. King says Tony Trotter Jr., 50, is being treated at the hospital in Rolla.

King says someone called 911 at 3:49 p.m. Tuesday about the shooting at 25630 Roscoe, which is Trotter's home. Someone drove Trotter to a restaurant parking lot west of Waynesville to meet an ambulance. Sheriff's deputies also went to the parking lot and interviewed Trotter.

"Trotter told deputies that he had been shot by an unknown assailant at his residence," King said in a news release. "We have no reason to believe that this was a random act of violence. We believe that there is more to the incident then we have been told and Trotter was the specific target of the shooter."
