Parkview trumpeter wins national honor

SPRINGFIELD -- The U.S. Army honored a Parkview High School band studentat an all-school assembly on Monday morning. Trumpet player Bryce Heffington was selected this summer to play in the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band.

Heffington is one of 97 seniors, and one of 16 trumpet players, who will perform in this elite group at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, on Jan. 9. The bowl game features 90 of the best high school football players from across the nation.

Heffington will get to travel to San Antonio four days before the game, all expenses paid, and practice for the big half time show with the band students selected from all over the country. He’s the first student from Parkview to be selected for this honor.
