JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- More criminal charges are likely against the owners of a group home in southwest Missouri where 11 people died in a fire in November 2006. Robert and LaVerne DuPont were scheduled to go to trial in two weeks on charges of health care fraud, conspiracy and money laundering but a federal judge postponed the trial at the request of an attorney for Robert DuPont.

Attorney Stuart Huffman of Springfield said in a court filing that he recently learned additional charges will be filed against DuPont. He said prosecutors agreed to the trial delay. A spokesman for the U.S. attorney did not immediately return a message on Monday.

The DuPonts owned Anderson Guest House, a group home for mentally ill and elderly people. State fire investigators have said faulty wiring in the attic likely sparked the fatal blaze.
