MACKS CREEK, Mo.-- Sixth graders returned to their classroom on Wednesday, after it was evacuated Tuesday because of a mercury spill. It happened when a clock fell on a thermometer, causing less than a dime-sized amount of mercury to spill into a trash can.
The school followed Environmental Protection Agency guidelines to clear the classroom for one day while it was cleaned up. Parents were also notified. The Macks Creek superintendent says about 15 kids were in the room when the accident occurred.
