MANSFIELD, Mo. -- Part of a nursing home is severely damaged after a fire broke out in its medicine room on Wednesday night. Firefighters say the flames started after an electrical short in an exhaust fan at Rocky Ridge Nursing and Rehab.

By the time crews arrived, sprinkler systems put out the fire. Most of the 38 residents were evacuated, thanks to neighbors who helped get people out safely.

"Some of them were outside and some were in the process of moving," said Wright County Sheriff's Dept. Sgt. Alan Primanzon. "We assisted with that along with the fire department, ambulance crews, and a lot of people. It was a really, really good thing".

No one was injured. The damage was isolated to the medicine room.
