SALEM, Ark. -- A man from Salem who admitted in 1993 that he killed and dismembered his wife is free from prison. The Arkansas Department of Correction says Herbert Brenk was released last month after receiving credit for good behavior in prison.

The murder investigation began in 1990 after two fishermen on Norfork Lake found a cooler with Lou Alice Brenk's torso. Investigators learned from witnesses that Herbert Brenk started disposing of her personal belongings after she disappeared.

Brink received a 24-year prison sentence.
