CABOOL, Mo.-- Pat Bowling of Cabool is one of a dwindling number of World War 2 veterans. He was drafted into the Army Air Corps in 1942, just three days after he married the love of his life, Loretta.

Staff Sgt. Bowling served as a flight engineer, crew chief and mechanic. He was enlisted for three years, one month, and eight days.

He and his wife, Loretta, say the toughest part of it all was being away from each other.

"I thought the war was never going to be over and I wouldn't hear from him for three months at a time; I just tried to work and do the best I could," said Loretta.
