OZARK, Mo. -- About 150 people of all ages laced up their shoes to benefit four elementary schools in Ozark.
Money raised from the one-mile, 5k or 10k will be used to buy new tennis shoes for kids at the schools.
"It's got cold earlier and (kids) are still wearing flip-flops to school, they don't have tennis shoes," organizer Lisa Engel said. "They're wearing tennis shoes that was passed down from a brother which is to big and it effects their classes and it effects kids."
School counselors will help determine those who need the shoes the most.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors in Christian County put together the event and organizers hope to do it again next year.
