SPRINGFIELD -- Thousands of kids around the world will have a brighter Christmas thanks to a global project. Operation Christmas Child is a charity under Samaritans Purse run by Franklin Graham.

Shoebox gifts are given to children around the world where natural disasters have taken place. Last year, 65,000 boxes were delivered to children after a devastating earthquake in China.

The boxes are filled with personal hygiene items and school supplies.

Donations can be taken to South Haven Baptist Church at 2335 S. Campbell Ave. through Monday.
