LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Patrons of a Walmart store in Mountain Home will soon be able to buy beer and wine from the store. The state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board voted 5-0 on Wednesday to overturn ABC Director Michael Langley's rejection of the application on Aug. 20.
Langley routinely rejects permit requests if anyone voices objections to it. That lets the ABC Board make the decision. He said local residents had opposed the permit for the Walmart store in Mountain Home.
No officials from Mountain Home or Baxter County showed up at the ABC Board meeting on Wednesday to oppose the permit. The permit granted by the board allows the store to sell beer and "small-farm" wines from wineries that produce 250,000 gallons or less of wine per year.
