ST. LOUIS -- A judge sentenced a man from Rolla to 41 months in prison for possession of child pornography.  After James May’s release, prosecutors say, he’ll be on supervised release for the rest of his life.

May, 51, pleaded guilty last Sept. 3 to five counts of possession of child pornography.  U.S. District Judge Rodney Sippel sentenced him on Thursday.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.  Federal, state and local law officers work together on the investigations.  In this case, Rolla police worked with the Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Regional Computer Crimes Education and Enforcement Group and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in St. Louis.
