BOLIVAR, Mo.-- A woman convicted of child endangerment after 370 animals were seized from her property near Pleasant Hope received a sentence of two years of unsupervised probation. A judge also barred Virginia Gambriel, 62, from caring for any children at her home or keeping more than three animals.

Gambriel was charged with two counts of first-degree child endangerment after a raid by the Humane Society of Missouri and law enforcement officers in August 2008. A judge convicted her of lesser misdemeanor charges in October after she waived her right to a trial by jury. The judge sentenced her on on Wednesday.

The Humane Society of Missouri rescued the 370 malnourished animals from Gambriel's farm. Rescuers found about 100 of the animals inside the mobile home where Gambriel and two of her grandchildren lived.

Gambriel is due in court on Nov. 25 to face 13 misdemeanor charges related to animal abuse.
