BOLIVAR, Mo. -- A Bolivar police officer tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation about 3 a.m. Monday. The driver sped away and the police officer searched for him. The officer found the vehicle on North Park Avenue and then heard four gunshots that he thinks were aimed at him.
Police Chief Michael Seibert says Bolivar officers and a tracking dog searched the neighborhood but didn't find the shooter. The vehicle, which was stolen in Greene County, had "numerous guns, knives, electronics, tools, police duty gear, a laptop and jewelry. Several of the guns and other items have been reportered as stolen from several area jurisdictions," Seibert said in a news release.
Seibert says officers think they know who the driver is and they're searching for him.
