SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Time is running out for families looking for help from the Salvation Army to buy food and toys. The deadline is Friday. Major Norman Grainger joined Ozarks Today on Thursday to talk about ways to help needy families.

The religious group has had 750 families apply, a 30-percent increase from 2008.

To apply, visit the Salvation Army on West Chestnut Expressway at Kansas Expressway between 10 and 3. Bring a photo identification, Social Security card for family members, proof of income, and proof of residency.
