ALTON, Mo. -- Gov. Jay Nixon appointed Tracy Bridges of Alton as the new county clerk for Oregon County. Bridges, 32, has served as deputy county clerk since February 2007. The position of clerk became vacant upon the death in November of County Clerk Gary Hensley, who had held the office since 1995.

Before becoming deputy clerk, Bridges worked as a certified teller and a customer service representative at Great Southern Bank in Thayer for 10 years.

“I am confident that (Bridges) will continue the strong record of constituent service in her new position," the governor said in a news release.
