SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Five people were hospitalized following a crash on Interstate 44 on the northeast side of the city. It happened around 4:15 p.m. Sunday near mile marker 85 between Springfield and Strafford.
Troopers say a sedan heading east in the fast lane slowed down to avoid a dog in the road. That's when it was rear-ended by an SUV.
The driver of the sedan suffered moderate injuries; there were minor injuries for the other four. All lanes were closed for roughly an hour.
